I’ll tell you, there is nothing better than Pizza…. Actually, there is! Deep fried pizza!
This recipe comes from the south of Italy, where I come from, and every time I make them it remember me when I was young.
The recipe is not too complicated, you’ll need:
- 500 gr of bread flour
- 25 gr of fresh yeast
- 1 cup and 1/2 do warm water
- 30 gr of olive oil
- 10 gr of sugar
- 10 gr of salt
- 1/2 litre of passata seasoned with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 table spoon of olive oil and a pinch of oregano)
- 1 mozzarella ball diced quite small
- 1 litre of vegetable oil
Knead your dough by putting the flour on the work top and adding the water in the centre in where you have previously melted sugar and yeast. while kneading add the salt and the oil. When you have a dough with a nice consistency put it, covered with a cloth, in a warm place in your house for about 2 our.
Once done, you need to divide your dough in all little portions of the size of half your fist. Roll out all your mini pizzas in a circular shape and put a bit of seasoned passata in and a few bits of mozzarella. Seal it with the shape of an half moon and press the flaps together. Make sure they seal properly the filling or you are going to make a mess when you fry them!
Deep fry them a a very very hot oil a few minutes for each side, they are done when nicely golden.
My suggestion is to eat them while still hot, they are the best when hot!
